While I wish eveyrone would stop eating animals because they care about the inhumane lives and tortured deaths of the animals, that's probably not realistic. I've talked to so many people who say "I could never give up meat." Even if they know the animals are treated horribly and tortured. They don't care. So, at least try it for your own selfish health benefits:
- Vegetarians in the U.S. have a lower incidence of heart disease than the general U.S. population.
- Vegetarians generally have a lower incidence of high blood pressure and a lower rate of Type 2 diabetes than do nonvegetarians.
- Vegetarians, especially vegans, have less incidence of obesity.
- There's some evidence that vegetarians have lower rates of osteoporosis, kidney stones, gallstones, and diverticular disease.
